Molding Your Own Fish Eyes

Posted By Steven

Is there anyone on here that cast their own eyes. I’ve got a few fish I’m experimenting with and they do not make eyes for them, at least that I’ve seen. I’ve done a few with 16 mm cabochons but one of the fish has a very pronounced bulging eye so the flat backs I’ve been using just won’t cut it. Trying to learn how to cast my own if anyone has experience with it.
Thanks.

Take a glass beer bottle to use as a mold and a marble to press th shape into a piece of plexiglass you have heated in the oven. Lay the soft plastic over the bottle opening and push the marble into it. When cooled, grind away the excess and use black fingernail polish or Testers model paint to paint your iris.
